Crane inspections in Orlando

We go over the crane and the truck, tell you what we found, and what it costs to put right. Plain findings, no sales pitch.

When an inspection pays for itself

  • Before you buy a used crane truck. A clean paint job hides a lot. We check the crane and the chassis and tell you what the truck will need in its first year, so the price you pay reflects it.
  • After a repair or an incident. Before a crane that has been damaged, overloaded or rebuilt goes back to lifting over people and property.
  • Before the busy season. Worn pins, a weeping cylinder and a tired hose are cheap to fix in the shop and expensive to fix on a job site.
  • When something feels different. Drift, noise, slow functions, play in the rotation or a remote that drops out now and then.

What we look at

  • Structure: the base, column, booms and outrigger boxes, for cracks, bends and bad past repairs
  • Pins, bushings, wear pads and the play in the extension sections
  • Rotation: slew drive, gear ring and bearing play, and whether the crane holds its position
  • Cylinders: drift under load, rod condition, seal leaks and holding valves
  • Hoses, fittings, valves, pump and PTO, and the oil itself
  • Controls, radio remote, limit switches and overload protection, tested working
  • Outriggers and their interlocks
  • The mounting: sub-frame, bolts and the truck frame under the crane
  • The truck: the basics that decide whether the crane truck earns its keep

Then we run the crane through its functions and, where it matters, under load.

What you get

A plain list of what we found, what is urgent, what can wait, and what each repair costs with parts. If you want us to fix it, we can do the work the same way as any other repair. If you are buying, you can take the list to the seller.

What we do not do

We are a repair shop, not a third-party certification body, and we do not issue certification paperwork. If a contract, an insurer or a regulator asks for a sign-off from an accredited crane inspector, use one; we will repair whatever that inspection finds. Insulated aerial devices that need dielectric testing are a job for a test facility, not for us.

Your crane's own manual sets its inspection and service intervals. For PM and Rotobec cranes the operator and service books are in the manual library at drywallcranes.com.

Tell us what the crane is doing

Give us the make, the model and serial number from the crane plate, where the truck is, and what it is or is not doing. We will tell you whether it is a part, a repair or a bigger conversation.
